Cafe 1901
This welcoming bistro on St. George’s Terrace has converted the Church Hall of Jesmond Methodist Church to create a truly unique dining space. There’s an eclectic mix of reclaimed cinema seats and cosy sofas, and even reclaimed barbers seats so it’s easy to get comfortable. They serve pretty much everything you could want for breakfast, including the full English breakfast and an excellent vegan version. For the sweeter tooth they have a variety of waffles on offer, and if you’re there for brunch and need filling up for the day, you can even pick from a variety of sides, including parmesan and truffle oil fries to add to your order!
ARLO Bistro
Located in the heart of West Jesmond on Brentwood Avenue, ARLO Bistro is a quirky venue, filled with Alpine memorabilia and retro knick-knacks. It’s great to hear that all the food served has been sourced locally, and when breakfast is served till 12pm every day, or all day Sunday, there’s no excuse to not take a trip out. Here you can choose from freshly baked scones, smashed avocado, pancakes, a full English breakfast, or more unusually, a Korean fried steak!
Willi’s Cafe
Found on Clayton Road, Willi’s Cafe is a family run business and a hotspot for food, cake, and artisan coffee. You can enjoy a fantastic Eggs Benedict here or steak and eggs if you want something a little more filling. If you’re looking to be a little bit healthier, there’s homemade toasted granola on offer, or an omelette, with three fillings of your choice.
Cafe Bar one
For a cosy setting, and the option to sit outside in the summer sunshine, Cafe Bar One on Jesmond Road is the place to be. You can’t get any better than breakfast being served all day, so whether you’re here at 9am for opening or 3pm for a post-lecture pick-me-up, you have the whole menu to choose from.
When it comes to hot drinks there’s a huge selection of loose leaf teas to choose from; whether you like the standard English Breakfast tea, tropical green tea, or chocolate and ginger! Cafe Bar One caters for your dietary requirements too, with fantastic gluten free and vegan options on offer. On the extensive breakfast menu, you can choose from a superfood breakfast bowl, Brooklyn breakfast burrito, a zero-carb option, and ‘The Works’, which is a bigger version of their full English breakfast.
